Living in the Heart

Asking better questions has been a mantra since my days with Roger Hamilton – and more recently in the past years with Mike Handcock and Dave Rogers – who are all masters at the skill of asking better questions.

This morning as I wrote my journal I invited my guides and helpers to assist me. I was going in circles with a lot of noise both inside and outside my head. Questioning my place here – questioning my attitudes, my work, my purpose, my seeming lack of passion and gratitude.

And as the pen began its flow across the page so too came very welcome insights.

Are they better questions.. those you are asking?

When a question only takes you in a circle, and to a place of darkness and discomfort – then seek a better question.

Ask yourself – “what was it that made your heart sing yesterday?”

“What deed did you do that made the most difference? Who’s heart did you touch to help them feel better in themselves?”

And with deep acknowledgement to the words of Thich Naht Hanh – “What sharing in your ‘sangha’ (commununity) helped to keep the boat afloat as some were carrying heavy stones in their hearts?”

When you ask these questions the focus returns to the heart and away from the head.

Live in the heart and what else you do matters very little. Live in your heart and seek to find that place at all times, remind yourself to fall into that place.

For there is the place of inspiration, of joy, and of connection to all things and all beings.

And from that place your purpose is fulfilled with no possible thought or question of:  “Am I enough?” “Is it enough that I do?”  But simply and only of connectedness to the whole where doing becomes only an extension of being and the purpose of existence simply is with nothing to ask and nowhere to go.

Out of that place, action flows and gratitude arises for the privilege of being in this body, in this place and in this time.P1410472-small

Synchronicity in 2011

The Coming Times Are Here..

Two days ago my housemate gave a week’s notice that she was leaving.  And although I am getting ready to leave myself at the end of February, I was understandably going to miss the weekly rent she gave me.

So yesterday I began thinking fairly casually about putting an notice on a chat site I belong to – for a suitable person to move into a short term fully equipped space.

I didn’t do it. I simply thought about it in some detail.

Two hours later my phone rang.  It was a friend – who chatted to me briefly about our New Year experiences and then asked..

“Do you happen to know where I might find a suitable place to stay for a couple of months as I am not comfortable where I am?”

Well yes I do!

If this is the speed with which we can manifest in this time – then it is imperative to be aware of what we are wishing for!

We have been told by many mystics and have been given many predictions that the power of the intuition and the manifestation of our thoughts will increase markedly in the coming times.

The coming times are here..

Trust and the Universe Opens

Recently I listened to Jean Houston talking on Women On the Edge of Evolution and she offered a wonderful exercise –

She said:

Make three columns on a page – on the top of the first write the heading –

What do I want from the Universe?

On the second – What does the Universe want from me?

and on the 3rd – What do we – the Universe and I want together?

It’s a great exercise – do it a few days in a row.. get a sense of what is being flowed through to you in this exercise.

Trust is the key.. it is the key to all life.

If we do not trust then nothing really works.

If we trust then everything flows – everything works.  As we look outside of ourselves and view the outside world what we are seeing really is our inner reflected back at us.

So an untrusting state of mind sees danger and concern and risk and scary things on each corner of our lives.

The trusting soul looks out and sees friends and gratitude and joy and a friendly universe ready to provide what is needed at each moment.

There is magic in every moment when we trust.  the smallest things can pop out at us and Malavali, Lonavala, Dist Pune, Indiashow us the way to opportunity – to connecting the dots which will allow us to move forward in the flow of our lives.

I have had an experience tonight in just that way.  I am leaving for India on the 4th of November – to go and spend time with some friends there who are doing great work with the less privileged people of our world.  I intend to visit with Nandini who runs an orphanage – here are her children.. 75 of them.

While eating my evening meal, I was reading a magazine – and the article included information about Stephanie Alexander who has set up and runs the Kitchen Gardens Foundation here in Australia –  a wonderful organisation that helps kids establish great gardens in their schools.

The lights went on.. the picture of the orphanage garden came in my mind and I was immediately inspired to write to Stephanie and request a link .. a way to become a sister school .. some support for Nandini’s children through the establishment of mutual gardens in other countries.  It’s just a seed.  I have sent the ‘hello’ email to Stephanie.. I will keep you posted on the outcome of this simple message that came through the connections that the Universe provides if only we have the eyes, ears and heart to receive them.

Playing A Bigger Game

Playing a bigger game. This is a term I have been working with .. mulling over in my brain, trying to get my head around for months, no probably some years .. seeing it as some sort of goal that I had to acheive – something that I needed to do or control or manifest. A position in life that I could only arrive at if I did certain steps.

For example.. if I followed the road to manifesting wealth.. then I could step into playing a bigger game. Because of course you need money to play a bigger game. How can you do something big without lots of cash? And of course then.. as I didn’t have lots of cash, that was a very good reason for not being able to play the bigger game.

So I continued on in my normal life – sure .. doing good things, with good ethics and helping people and feeling grateful for the abundance that I experienced in my life, but always with that nagging sense of not quite stepping into that which was mine to really do.

It was a thorny and knotty problem for me.. something I wrestled with almost constantly. and in fact something that no one else could ever answer for me – try as I might arrive at a suitable response from someone else.
It never came. I meditated, I wrote goals, I reviewed them daily, I spent lots of money on expensive courses that promised to bring me to a state where I would simply KNOW that which I was destined to be do or have.
And so I exercised more, I did special early morning rituals, I gave up things, I contemplated giving up more things.. I reviewed my goals yet again.

And nothing really changed.

And yet deep inside perhaps something was working its way through me.

A sense of synchronicity.

And then came the Dreamcatchers Cruise. I knew I should go with a clear intention of what I was wishing to create through this cruise. But life got in the way and I didn’t clearly formulate more than  a simple wish to have a good time. I also wished to surrender to the fact that I had invited my 82 year old aunty along with me.. and that I would need to slow down somewhat and adjust my desires to fit with her needs as well.

I also was hoping quietly to get some clarity on my next steps.

I made a pact with myself that during this cruise – that this event would not see me sleeping. I was not going to miss anything. So dancing into the wee hours of the night became the norm and perhaps that in itself allowed me to break down some barriers that I was holding around myself.

Am I recommending that as a personal growth process? No not necessarily.. but anything that breaks down the walls that we create to ‘protect’ ourselves – in the right situation – can be very useful.

Gurdjieff – that extraordinary teacher and master – was known to get his followers very drunk and then demand of them to be present and aware. A tool that has been used by those who are bent on awakening those around them to good use many times.

So for me.. on the 2nd last day – we were in the conference room – and during a simple sharing exercise – I turned to my friend David who was seated beside me to share – and out of my mouth fell the words.. “I have to go to India.”

It was as if a light had turned on and shone upon the most simple solution that had ever been presented to me.
Here I was .. the person who had been wracking her brains – trying to work out with her mind what to do.. when all the time it was so simple.
Step into the bigger game.. simply acknowledge what is the next step – trust that the way forward will be shown to you and ask: “What can I do for you?”

Maya Shahani and Nandini were there.  As soon as I could I went to them both – once again synchonicity aided my steps and they were standing together – and I said: “I am coming to India .. when I get there I would like to assist you .. in whatever way I can.”

Maya creates schools in the slums of Mumbai .. she provides opportunities for the mothers and helps people to come out of poverty. Her Sage Foundation is a model for moving into a better world.

Nandini runs an orphanage with 75 children. She is creating a model for orphanages throughout the world – one which supports the fullest potential of the children who are living there.

I have stepped into a bigger game and it was as simple as saying: “yes” to what was completely under my nose.

Was it easy? No – but it is simple.

Will it be easy.. now that I am home – back in my comfort zone? No not necessarily .. but writing this has put it out there for anyone who cares to read it.. now I have to do it. I have no choice any more.. my path is clear.

Thank you to all who have helped me on this way for there have been many.  Mike Handcock and Dave Rogers – and the rest of the Dreamcatchers crew – thank you for you were the final catalyst in this particular alchemical moment.

A World of Love – Happiness

Bruce Lipton Phd said:

“When the brain sees a world of love, it releases happy chemicals.  These translate into chemistry that controls the health of the cell.”

If you don’t know who Bruce Lipton is you are excused but I highly recommend that you check him out as he is one of the most brilliant thinkers and writers of our time.   He has turned the erroneous supposition that genes control our lives, on its head.

His books – Spontaneous Evolution: Our Positive Future and a Way to Get There From Here and The Biology of Belief: Unleasing the Power of Consciousness, Matter and Miracles are excellent.

I really want to bring to your attention to the above statement..

What does this mean for you and me – practically, day to day?

It means that if I survey the world from a position of friendliness and the spirit of of Kindness (Sylvia Marina) with an intention to step up and do my work and my play from the point of view of love – then that in itself has a profound effect on my health.

As Bruce already does this so well, I have no desire here to explain the biochemistry of how this effect actually occurs,  – but I clearly wish to bring it to your attention so that you have yet another reason to shift your focus and move effectively into the light of the world.

Einstein said – “The field is the sole governing agency of the particle”

Okay this is quite a statement so let’s see if we can deconstruct this a little to help each of us really get what he was saying.

It is that the environment, the energy field in which we are all bathed, has a profound effect on the individual or at the smallest level on each particle of our being.  Referring once again to Bruce Lipton – he gives an example of the effect of a magnet on iron filings on a sheet of paper held above the magnet.  The magnetic field effects the movement of the filings.  However if those filings are cemented into a coherent state – they become a solid iron bar.. which can then be magnetised.  Then this coherent force will effect the field.

What am I on about…. you may ask?

Well simply this… if we as human beings become connected, become coherent in our intent and join in community, we can change the field of the earth.  We can make a difference, but only as a connected humanity – only as a wholeness and a oneness.  It is the time to connect.

In the words of the master wordsmith and conductor of social artistry Jean Houston:

“Now is the time and we are the people.”
